Its the first Sunday of Advent…which means that we kick off the Christmas season here at Alderbrook Church. Only 26 shopping days until Christmas!!
It was such a great Sunday last week: Gregg and the team did such a phenomenal job with the singing and the worship. I really didn`t want it to end!! It was powerful just to proclaim the wonders and majesty of God!!
It was also so incredible to affirm all the new members at ACC: Brad and Maria Hutchison, John and Jane Valcourt, Paulette Baker, Nate and Jenn Street. ..each are a gift and blessing to the church!!This week we want to affirm two more members who were away last Sunday: Kris Baker and Vic Kaay were at the Seahawks game in Seattle. Kris is a die-hard Seahawks fan and Vic and a 49ers fan. We will affirm them this Sunday…it should be interesting!!
This Sunday, as I mentioned earlier is the first Sunday of Advent. We will be focusing on the characteristic of HOPE. Cheryl will be leading our families through the Advent devotional and the lighting of the first candle. This is always such a meaningful and significant time as we prepare our hearts and home for Christmas. Justin Irwin will be leading the singing and I want to start our Christmas season with a message titled “What Happened in Bethlehem, Didn`t Stay in Bethlehem“. We are going to look at the biblical account of the Christmas narrative as we follow the travels of the wise men that came to visit Jesus as he was born in Bethlehem. There are some incredible parallels and truths to impact our lives today. Its not just a story, its not just a Christmas tale…`cause it didn`t stay in Bethlehem`.
See you this Sunday at Alderbrook,
Pastor Glenn and Cheryl
