Sunday, December 5 || Alderbrook Church

Hello everyone,

Welcome to December!!

It was just announced yesterday that masks are now ‘mandatory for those attending church’ thank you for your understanding.

These past few weeks have been such a difficult time for a lot of residents in Abbotsford living on the Sumas flats, but also for many parts of BC, such as Merritt and other communities that have been isolated through the many road closures.

We want to remind you that we are collecting non-perishable food items for the Abbotsford Food Bank each Sunday.

We are also supporting Casa De Luz in Mexico. You can purchase a CDL gift box (www.casadeluzmexico.com) and the proceeds go towards the feeding and education programs in Primo Tapia. This week we continue our Advent series… yes, Christmas is coming up quickly. Our Advent Series is titled, “The Weary World Rejoices” as we look at ‘Finding Peace in the Middle of Difficult Relationships.’

This Sunday we also want to bless and thank our nine CBC and Summit Pacific Service Prac. students, and the two students doing their internship; you guys are the best – Kaitlin, Kyle, Trinity, Georgia, Hannah, Beth, Jared, Rylan, Scott, Robyn, and Calvin.

If you are away or unable to attend church, why not login through Zoom and attend church by clicking the link below:

See you this Sunday,

Sermon Series

December 5th~ A Weary World Rejoices, Finding Peace in the Middle of Difficult Relationships by Glenn Embree

Follow along during the sermon with the notes below!

Text: Luke 1:26-29, Luke 2:8-10

John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

There are many misconceptions about peace in relationships…

1. Peace is not ______________________________.

2. Peace is not ______________________ another person.

How can we experience peace? Extend peace to others?

1. Be an _________________________ to other people.

Matthew 5:23-24 “Therefore if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First, go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift.”

2. __________________ what others are going through.

1 Peter 3:8 “Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another, be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble.”

Philippians 2:4 “Each of you should look not only to your own interests but also to the interests of others.”

3. Attack the ___________________ not the ________________________.

Ephesians 4:29 “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouth, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.”

4. Find the ____________________________ with people.

1 Corinthians 7:15 “…God has called us to live in peace.”

James 3:18 “Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness.”

5. Embrace the __________________________ in times of difficulty.

Colossians 3:15-16 “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly…”
