We had a great Church Picnic last Sunday…it was so fun just to hang out after church and relax and get to know each other better!!
This Sunday at Alderbrook, Gregg will be leading the singing and the worship. I love the time we set apart each Sunday just to sing together as a church and to worship the Lord. Too often we can approach our Sunday worship and focus on the musicians, or the songs that they have chosen. My prayer is that this Sunday, we all get caught up in one thing…and that it’s all about Jesus. Whether it’s a newer song, fast or slow…it really doesn’t matter does it? The only focus should be that God is worthy of our praise and adoration…and He loves to hear it!! And yes, the coffee and bagels will be on,…’cause community and connecting is pretty important too!!
We will be continuing our sermon series called ‘PRAY” this weekend too. Last week, we had a great outdoor service and we started on the first part…’What Is God Really Like’. Its important to know who we pray to and who God really is, isn’t it? This Sunday we are going to look at a really interesting (and a very difficult) topic. Why hasn’t God answered my prayer? I have often wondered this and I’m sure that you have too. We want to look at what the Bible says about prayer….answered and unanswered prayer.
**Note: Remember our August Prayer Walk is scheduled for Saturday August 22nd from 4-5pm. Bring the whole family and come and pray for our neighbourhood at CBC.
This week in Kidzone we are starting a new series called “TruthLab Investigations” a 13-lesson adventure for children ages 4–11. The fun and excitement of a wacky research lab is combined with discoveries Dr. Luke—our Head Researcher—made into Jesus’ life. Through these stories, kids will discover what God says about each of us as His children.
This Sunday kids will be looking at the first couple chapters of Luke to discover that God says He loves me, no matter what. I am loved by God. “How did God show his love for us? He sent his one and only Son into the world.” 1 John 4:9
