ACC @ CBC August 24, 2014

photo 10Hello everyone,

The summer is coming to a close….
It has been a wonderful summer here in BC, but one of the things that I always look forward to is the Fall. I love the way that the leaves begin to turn their amazing colors, the kids heading back to school ( which means routine) and the start of the NHL hockey season, NFL football and College football. I know …I’m a sports fanatic. But most of all, it’s great to have everyone back to church after all the great holidays, vacations and travel.
This Sunday Gregg and the team will be leading the music. We will be having communion at the end of the service so we will be having an extended time of singing, music and praise to God. I am so appreciative of all those who contribute to this vital ministry…the musicians, the sound and media team…you are such an incredible blessing.
This Sunday I want to continue our series called Refresh, which is out of the Psalms. We’ve already covered Psalm 23 and 63… And this week it’s Psalm 66, How to Build a Life of Thanks. It is so important in our lives to live with a high level of thankfulness. I remember a saying that my pastor in my home church used to say…” That we need to live life with a high level of thankfulness and a low level of expectation”.
Mark your calendar for Sunday September 14th which is our Fall Kick Off….it’s gonna be a blast!!
Finally, thank you for the support, encouragement and prayer this past week for Cheryl, myself and our family with Cheryl’s moms home going. We had a phenomenal memorial service where Cheryl gave an incredible tribute to her mom and shared the good news of Jesus Christ. Our prayer is that people came to know God.
See you in church on Sunday,
Pastor Glenn and Cheryl

*New Sermon Series: “Refresh”

The summer months can get warm and most of us just want to relax, stay out of the heat and get REFRESHED.

Whether it is a glass of ice cold lemonade, the shade of a tree or some air conditioning, we look for some relief from the heat.

The Bible tells us how we can be refreshed. Join us for our sermon series in August out of the book of Psalms.

Aug 10th Finding Real Contentment (Psalm 23)

Aug 17th Learning How to Rest (Psalm 63)

August 24th Build a Life of Thanks (Psalm 66)

Aug 31st Staying Close to God During Trouble (Psalm 68)

We have such great kids here at Alderbrook! It has been a wonderful summer and fun. energy, excitement and lessons all about Jesus through the story of Moses on Sunday mornings and then the treasure of God’s love at our VBS. This fall we are going on an adventure to discover who God is!
A HUGE thank you to all our Kidzone leaders. The summer is a time to relax and get away and our leaders were able to manage there time to still be able to invest in our kids. Our children’s ministry is nothing without our leaders. Jesus’ invitation, “Come follow me,” was more than a recruiting presentation. It was an opportunity to partner with him in a divine mission. Likewise, people who “help out” may invest an hour of their time — but “ministry partners” invest themselves. They joyfully give not only their time, but also their thoughts, energy, and passion to bring tremendous value to the team.
