ACC @ CBC October 9, 2016

Hi everyone,
Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays of the year!!

There’s nothing better than sitting down with friends/family around the table while enjoying each others company and having a great meal together.

It’s also this time of year that most sports are in full swing…baseball, basketball, football and hockey….I absolutely love it ( while Cheryl not so much!!)

Oh yes, Cheryl and I were married on Thanksgiving weekend. We were youth pastors at Broadway Church in Vancouver at that time and had a pretty full summer calendar of events. Thanksgiving just seemed the best (and the right time) to be joined in marriage. I am thankful for my bride!

All of these things make the Thanksgiving weekend special, but mostly…I am so thankful to God for His love, forgiveness and redeeming power that I have received.

I love a great turkey dinner and an awesome hockey or football game…but these are so trivial in comparison to my gratitude level to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

As we come to church on Sunday it is a great opportunity to express our thanks to God.

This Sunday we are excited to have another baby dedication at ACC. I am so thankful for the young couples and families in our church that desire to put God first and to raise their children with the things of God. We regularly pray for the young families of the church because we know the unique challenges of raising children today. I love watching the children of ACC when we are singing and worshiping together…I am thankful to God!!

The Thanksgiving message is actually one on ‘worship’…I have titled it ‘Worshiping God with Reckless Abandon’, a biblical story from 2 Samuel chapter six when David brought the ark of the Lord back to Jerusalem and his wife actually freaked out!!

You will not want to miss the teaching this Sunday about creating a lifestyle of worship!!

We want to wish you a blessed Thanksgiving weekend. We have so much to be thankful for don’t we?

See you at Alderbrook this Sunday,

Pastor Glenn and Cheryl

**NEW Sermon Series: SUIT UP**

We live in a beautiful and peaceful country called Canada, but do you know that we are in a battle? The Bible tells us that we are in a “war” with the enemy called the devil, who wants to keep us from living into the identity that God has for us. It’s time to “SUIT UP”, put on the armor of God and fight the battles before us.

Middle School Students

Middle School Students will be in the service this Sunday. Next week we will be meeting after coffee 4:59 in room 204. We will be watching and discussing part 3 of the series “Day Off.” This weeks episode is about how the choices we make affect others.

Proverbs 22:24-25 says

Don’t make friends with quick-tempered people or spend time with those who have bad tempers. If you do,

you will be like them. Then you will be in real danger.

And Proverbs 13:20 says

Become wise by walking with the wise; hangout with fools and watch your life fall to pieces.

High School Students

High School Students will be meeting this Wednesday evening from 7-8:30pm at CBC for youth. Drop off and pick-up will be in the CBC parking lot. We will be starting a new series about Relationships called “status”. Dating relationships can get complicated. In “Status,” we’ll focus on a group of high school students as they navigate through their dating lives, learning who to date, how to date, and how far is too far. Come for great discussion, to connect with friends, play games and HAVE FUN!
