ACC November 11, 2018

Hi everyone,

It has really been a beautiful fall hasn’t it?
We’ve had Thanksgiving, then Halloween..and now this weekend we take a moment to ‘remember’.

For some of us, World War 1 and World War 2 are things we’ve only read about in history books or been taught in history class at school.
I’m sure more people are aware of conflicts we’ve seen in our lifetime and a lot closer to home, such as 9-11 in New York, or the various mass shootings in various North American cities. All heartbreaking and tragic!
I think that in remembering all of the atrocities that have happened, we need to pay special tribute to past soldiers, peace keepers, police officers, first responders….and the list can go on and on.

I also believe that Remembrance Day is a great time to remember that Jesus Christ is our ultimate “freedom fighter and first responder”. Not only did Jesus go to the cross to ensure that we have freedom from our sin, but he also did that ‘while we were yet sinners’. Sounds like a first responder to me!!

This Sunday we want to look at the message that I have titled, EPIC GRACE. We will also be remembering those that gave their lives so that we could have freedom in Canada, plus having communion together as we remember what Christ did for each of us. Let’s never forget!!

See you this Sunday at Alderbrook,
Pastor Glenn and Cheryl

This Sunday at Kidzone

This week’s topic in Kidzone was strength. The kids learned about the story of Samson, and how through God, he had great physical strength. We discussed that when we are going through difficult times, when we trust in God, he can give us spiritual strength. We also made little grass head buddies that grow long hair just like Samson! We encourage you to spend a bit of time this week helping your kids learn this week’s verse, Ephesians 6:10, “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.” For every 4 verses that your child can recite to us, they will be able to choose a prize from our prize box. 🙂
Blessings,
Cassidy and Rebecca
