Sunday, April 10 || Alderbrook Church

Hello everyone,

This Sunday we remember and celebrate Palm Sunday when Jesus began his triumphal entry into the city and his subsequent walk towards the cross on Good Friday (April 15th).

This Sunday we will be continuing our sermon series titled Resurrection Life. Every day is important to us as believers, but this week is so foundational to our faith in God through what Jesus Christ did on the cross and then rose from the dead three days later.

Sermon Series

April 10th ~ Resurrection Life, Love Started Here (Palm Sunday) by Glenn Embree

Hebrews 12:2-3 (NIV) “Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.”

Hebrews 12:2-3 (Msg) “Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we’re in. Study how he did it. Because He never lost sight of where He was headed-that exhilarating finish in and with God- He could put up with anything along the way; cross, shame, whatever. And now He’s there, in the place of honor, right alongside God. When you find yourselves flagging in your faith, go over that story again, item by item, that long litany of hostility He plowed through. That will shoot adrenaline into your souls!”

1. Jesus asks us to be __________________ even when I don’t ________________.

Matthew 21:1-6 “As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethpage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples, saying to them, ‘Go to the village ahead of you, and at once you will find a donkey tied there, with her colt by her. Untie them and bring them to me. If anyone says anything to you, tell him that the Lord needs them, and he will send them right away.’ This took place to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet: ‘Say to the daughter of Zion, “See your king comes to you, gentle and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.”‘The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them.”

2. We need to _________________ what we are __________________________.

Luke 19:31-34 “If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ tell him, ‘the Lord needs it’ “. Those who were sent ahead went and found it just as He had told him. As they were untying the colt, its owners asked them, ‘Why are you untying the colt?’ They replied, ‘The Lord needs it.’”

3.We need to _______________ lay things down ___________________________.

Matthew 21:7-8 “They brought the donkey and a colt, placed their cloaks on them, and Jesus sat on them. A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road ,while others cut branches from the tree’s and spread them on the ground.”

4. I can be ______________________ in my ______________________________.

Matthew 21:9 “The crowds that went ahead of Him and those that followed shouted, ‘Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!’”

5. ___________________ and be a part of __________________________.

Luke 19:39-40 “Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, ‘Teacher, rebuke your disciples!’ ‘I tell you’, he replied, ‘if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.'”
