Sunday, June 16 || Alderbrook Church

Hi everyone,

Did you survive the heat wave this past week?
For those who have air-conditioning…count yourselves blessed!!
And for those who don’t (like me) just remember that the heat is just temporary!

This Sunday is Fathers Day…and at ACC we take this day to celebrate all the guys (from the youngest to the oldest).
According to the internet (’cause everything is true on the web…) Fathers Day will be celebrating it’s 100 year anniversary this year.
in 1909, Miss Sonora Smart Dodd (her name sounds kinda funny!!) of Spokane, Washington sat in church listening to a Mothers Day sermon, and wanted a special day to honor her father. Her father was William Smart, a widowed Civil War veteran who was left to raise his six children along with running a farm/ business..

Whatever our story is today…we want to honor all the guys at Alderbrook Church. We have a gift for all of the guys, plus Root Beer Floats for everyone after church. The message this Sunday is ‘How to be an Influential Father/Grandfather”…in fact, the biblical principles will be transferable for everyone of us.
Each of us (men, women, all ages) has the power of influencing someone for Christ.

Enjoy the heat,
See you Sunday (we have air-conditioning at church!!)

Sundays at Kidzone

Last Sunday we added to the Lord’s prayer, the “deliver us from the evil one.” We focused on the fact that God can protect us and shield us from the devils attempts to pull us away from our faith. The full verse is, “This then is how you should pray: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread and forgive us our debts as we also have forgiven our debtors. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one.” Matthew 6:9-13b
