Sunday, March 13 || Alderbrook Church

Hello everyone,

It has finally arrived!! Spring is coming and it’s time to move the clocks ahead one hour this weekend…yes, we lose an hour of sleep but gain some evening daylight!

Would you continue to remember to pray for the country of Ukraine this week that God will bring protection and peace!!

We are also continuing our sermon series titled, WHO ARE YOU? A lot of people really struggle with who they are and who they were made to be. In fact, many are confused about who God created them to be and what he wants them to do. We will be looking at insights from God’s Word about our inner being-our soul…and find out who we really are.

Sermon Series

March 13th ~ Who Are You, Removing My Brokeness by Glenn Embree

Luke 19:1-9 (Story of Zacchaeus the tax collector)

1. All of our issues come from the ______________________________.

Proverbs 4:23 “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”

Luke 19:1-4 “Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through. A man was there by the name of Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector and was wealthy. He wanted to see who Jesus was, but being a short man he could not, because of the crowd. So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see him, since Jesus was coming that way.”

Luke 19:5 “When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, ‘Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today’. So he came down at once and welcomed him gladly.”

2. The only way to remove guilt is to ____________ or have it ____________________.

Luke 19:7 “All of the people saw this and began to mutter, ‘He has gone to be the guest of a sinner.'”

Psalm 32:1-5 (NLT) “Oh, what joy for those whose disobedience is forgiven, whose sin is put out of sight! Yes, what joy for those whose record the Lord has cleared of guilt, whose lives are lived in complete honesty! When I refused to confess my sin, my body wasted away, and I groaned all day long. Day and night your hand of discipline was heavy on me. My strength evaporated like water in the summer heat. Finally, I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide my guilt. I said to myself, ‘I will confess my rebellion to the Lord’. And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone.”

3. The key to the removal of guilt is ________________________________.

Proverbs 28:13 “People who conceal their sin will not prosper, but if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy.”

4. The purpose of confession isn’t __________________________________ but that we experience __________________.

Luke 19:8 (NIRV) “But Zacchaeus stood up. He said, ‘Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of what I own to those who are poor. And if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay it back. I will pay back four times the amount I took.'”

Luke 19:9 (NIRV) “Jesus said to Zacchaeus, ‘Today salvation has come to your house.'”

Ezekiel 36:26 “And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart.”
