Sunday, May 22 || Alderbrook Church

Hello everyone,

We trust that you had a great week!! …and welcome to the long weekend.

This Sunday Gregg will be leading the music/worship plus we will have Coffee 4:59 ready. Thank you Kristen Baker for all of the incredible baking that you do each week!! Much appreciated. In fact, I want to give a huge shout-out to all of our young leaders…and especially those ‘up and coming’ young leaders. It is so awesome to see the number of middle school, highschool and college students that get involved every Sunday at Alderbrook Church. Wow!!

We are continuing our series called “DISCOVER Church”. When you think of the word ‘church’ what’s the first thing that comes to your mind? To a large degree, your answer has a dramatic impact on your faith and how you pursue God.

Ephesians 3:10-12 (Msg) “Through Christians like yourselves gathered in churches, this extraordinary plan of God is becoming known and talked about even among the angels! All this is proceeding along lines planned all along by God and then executed in Christ Jesus. When we trust him, we’re free to say whatever needs to be said, bold to go wherever we need to go.”

What are some incredible things about the church?

1. We can know ________________________________________.

Acts 2:42 “…they were continually devoting themselves to the apostles teaching”.

Ephesians 4:12 Build up the church, the body of Christ to a position of strength and maturity, until all are full grown in the Lord.”

2. We can __________________________________________.

Acts 2:42 “ …and they were continually devoting themselves to prayer”.

3. We are ___________________________________.

Ephesians 2:19 “ You are members of God’s very own family…and you belong together in God’s household with every other believer”.

1 Peter 1:3  “First God gave us the privilege of being born again, now we are members of God`s own family.”

4. We can ______________________________________.

Matthew 18:20 “ For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.”

Psalm 34:3 “Oh, magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together”.

Why is this so important?

   a. It is a reminder of God’s _______________________

Psalm 33:4 “For the word of the LORD is right and true; he is faithful in all he does.”

   b. It is a declaration of ______________________________

Psalm 68:35 “You are awesome, O God, in your sanctuary; the God of Israel gives power and strength to his people. Praise be to God!”

5. We can see and watch ___________________________________.

(miracles happen)

Acts 2:43 “ Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were being done by the apostles.”

Why is this so important?

   a. So that God ______________________ .

   b. So that people will be _________________________.

Acts 11:24 (Barnabas) “He was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit, and a great number of people were brought to the Lord.”

    c. So that ___________________________________.

Acts 4:30 “Stretch out your hand to heal and perform miraculous signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus”.

                                 ——————————————————————

Acts 4:31 “After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.”
