Sermon Series

October 10th ~ Heaven and Hell, Thanksgiving: How Cool Will Heaven Really Be? by Glenn Embree

Why not follow along during the sermon with the notes below!

“That’s why we live with such good cheer. You won’t see us drooping our heads or dragging our feet! Cramped conditions here don’t get us down. They only remind us of the spacious living conditions ahead. It’s what we trust in but don’t yet see that keeps us going.” 2 Corinthians 5:6-7 (Msg)

How Cool Will Heaven Really Be?

1. We will be ________________________ who made it in!

Luke 23:39-43 “One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: ‘Aren’t you the Christ? Save yourself and us!’ But the other criminal rebuked him. “Don’t you fear God’, he said, ‘since you are under the same sentence? We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong’. Then he said, ‘Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom’. Jesus answered him, ‘I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise’ .”

2. We get to live in a ______________________________ home.

John 14:1-3 (Jesus) “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you.  I am going there to prepare a place for you and will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am”.

3. We will have a _______________________________ body.

2 Corinthians 5:4 (GNB) “While we live in this earthly tent, we groan with a feeling of oppression; it is not that we want to get rid of our earthly body, but that we want to have the heavenly one put on over us, so that what is mortal will be transformed by life”.

4. We will ________________________ with great _________________________.

Matthew 8:11 “I say to you that many will come from the east and the west, and will take their places at the feast with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven”.

5. We can go through life knowing __________________ are ________________.

Philippians 1:21-24 “For me to live is Christ and to die is to gain. If I am to go on living in this body, this will mean fruitful labour for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know! I am torn between the two; I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body.”

6. We get to ____________________ in the best __________________________.

Revelation 5:11-12 “Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten-thousand. They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders. In a loud voice, they sang…’Worthy is the Lamb’…”

7. We won’t ___________, feel _____________ get ___________ or _________.

Revelation 21:4 “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things, has passed.”

8. We will be __________________________ with those we love.

1 Thessalonians 4:13 (Msg) “And regarding the question, friends, that has come up about what happens to those already dead and buried, we don’t want you in the dark any longer. First off, you must not carry on over them like people who have nothing to look forward to, as if the grave were the last word. Since Jesus died and broke loose from the grave, God will most certainly bring back to life those who died in Jesus.”

2 Corinthians 5:6-7 (Msg) “That’s why we live with such good cheer. You won’t see us drooping our heads or dragging our feet! Cramped conditions here don’t get us down. They only remind us of the spacious living conditions ahead. It’s what we trust in but don’t yet see that keeps us going.”
