IMG_9126Did you survive Blue Monday??

I didn’t even know there was such a day until I read about it this past week. Apparently, the third Monday in January is supposed to be the most depressing day of the year. Go figure?!!
That’s interesting ’cause usually my golf day is the most depressing day of my year!!
Blue Monday started with a British travel agency in 2005 that commissioned a university professor to find the most depressing day of the calendar year. You know where this travel agency was going with their marketing plan!! The professor combined the UK weather, debt, time off since Christmas, motivational levels and the many New Years resolutions that had been broken to pinpoint the third Monday of January. (I was factually feeling pretty good on Monday until I read the article…just kidding!!)

This Sunday at Alderbrook won’t be depressing, in fact it will be the exact opposite…it will be very uplifting. Justin and the music/worship team will be leading the music and the singing. Didn’t the team do such an amazing job last Sunday? My spirit came alive as we focused on the promises of God as we sang praise to God. It was also exciting to see all the kids and youth out to church on Sunday. (Way to go Allie and Hanna/Joel). It was also exciting to see how many people came early to church on Sunday…what a great habit !!

This Sunday we want to continue our series from the Beatitudes. This week we look at Matthew 5:6 which says, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled”. I’ve titled my message, “The Secret to Satisfaction”. Whether you experienced ‘Blue Monday’ (or not) I believe that the Word of God will bring life, perspective and a deep satisfaction into your spirit. God has something special for you this weekend at Alderbrook and I can hardly wait to see you there….

See you on Sunday,
Pastor Glenn and Cheryl

High School Youth Alpha

We have had a really exciting start to our Youth Alpha series. There has been FANTASTIC food, fun and discussion. Our first week we looked into Life and some questions that are frequently asked among people believers or not. The second week we discussed Jesus and who he was and is. We have been amazed to see how open and honest these conversations have been. Let us just say that we have some amazing Youth in our church and we are so blessed to get to be walking along beside them as they grow in their relationships with Jesus.

As a church and as parents please continue to pray for our Youth and everyone involved with the Youth Alpha series.

Middle School

This past Sunday we started a great 4 week series called “That’s It” with our Middle School Youth. It is a fast paced sketch comedy show set in different styles to help our middle school youth understand the foundational principles of serving and putting others first. Our Middle School youth is the definition of liveliness and we are really looking forward to getting to know them more as we meet together on Sunday mornings.
