Happy New Year!!

I have no idea where 2015 went so quickly, but here we are in a brand new year.
I have always loved the start of a new year. I don’t make a lot of resolutions, ’cause I tend to break them pretty quickly…but I do set goals each year.
I have a list on my IPad that I’ve kept for the past four-five years on some significant areas that I want to achieve and address. I’ve listed them into various categories like family, church, physical, spiritual, etc…I think you get the picture. It is amazing to see the goals that I have been able to address or accomplish over the past few years. Its also amazing the areas that I continue to work on,…who would have thought it was so tough to give up diet soft-drinks?!?

This Sunday we begin a brand new series from the Beatitudes (Matthew 5) as we look to “restore or re-start our spiritual momentum”. Jesus taught his disciples/followers some pretty significant principles about what it meant to be a Christ-follower…or a Kingdom (of God) dweller. Have you ever considered what that may look like in your life? May I suggest that instead of making resolutions (they’re not all bad), that you look through the lens that Jesus shows us in Matthew chapter 5 in developing our lives deeper in Christ. This Sunday we are going to look at what it means to be “poor in spirit” (Matthew 5:3).

We are also so excited to have our new staff join us on this first Sunday in 2016. Allie Vanderkooy and the team of Kidzone leaders have an exciting program in store for our kids each and every Sunday. Hanna and Joel Soeten, who are leading our Middle School and Highschool programs, also have some new youth events happening. Watch for more details on the Youth Alpha program that starts this month, plus some exciting activities.

Why not spiritually restore or re-start your faith this January? Attend a Lifegroup, sign up for the ACC Membership Class or serve in an area of the church.
See you on Sunday,

Pastor Glenn and Cheryl
