Sermon Series

October 24th ~ Heaven and Hell, Is There Really A Hell? by Glenn Embree

Why not follow along during the sermon with the notes below!

Jude 1:20-23 (NLT) “But you, dear friend, must continue to build your lives on the foundation of your holy faith. And continue to pray as you are directed by the Holy Spirit. Live in such a way that God’s love can bless you as you wait for the eternal life that our Lord Jesus in his mercy is going to give you. Show mercy to those whose faith is wavering. Rescue others by snatching them from the flames of judgement. There are still others to whom you need to show mercy, but be careful that you aren’t contaminated by their sins.”

What is Hell really like and what is my responsibility? (Luke 16)

1. I must never lose _________________ of ______________________________.

Luke 16:19-21 “There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores and longing to eat what fell from the rich man’s table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores.”

2. My __________________________ will be very __________________________.

Luke 16:22 “The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side…”

3. My body ______________________ but I will live on for ____________________.

Luke 16:22 “…the rich man also died and was buried”.

4. After I ___________________ I go to one of two ___________________________.

Luke 16:23 “In hell, he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus at his side”.

5. One of the places, _____________________ is a very ___________________ place.

Luke 16:24 “So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire’ .”

6. Where I go is based on what I __________________ here on ___________________.

Luke 16:25-26 “But Abraham replied, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. And besides all this, between us and you, a great chasm has been fixed, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us’ .”

7. The horribleness of __________________ should _______________________ me.

Luke 16:27-29 “He answered, ‘Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my father’s house, for I have five brothers. Let him warn them so that they will not also come to this place of torment’. Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them’.”

8. Let Jesus use _______________ to tell others about ___________________________.

Luke 16:30-31 “ ‘No, father Abraham, ‘ he said, ‘but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent’. He said to them, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead’ .”

9. The awesomeness of _______________________ gives me ____________________.

Romans 10:9-11 (Msg) “Say the welcoming word to God- ‘Jesus is my master’-embracing body and soul, God’s work of doing in us what he did in raising Jesus from the dead. That’s it. You’re not ‘doing’ anything; you’re simply calling out to God, trusting him to do it for you. That’s salvation. With your whole being, you embrace God setting things right, and then you say it, right out loud: ‘God has set everything right between him and me!’ Scripture reassures us, ‘No one who trusts God like this- heart and soul- will ever regret it’ .”
