Coming up is one of my favourite weekends of the year… it isn’t a holiday or a special historical event, but it’s the weekend we get to ‘fall back’ and have an extra hour of sleep (Yayyy!!). Yes, it is the simple little things in life that get me excited!! LOL
We are continuing our sermon series called “Heaven and Hell.” We’ve been looking at what Heaven is like, and what the Bible says about Hell. This Sunday we are going to discuss the spiritual or unseen world. Is it real? Is it fake? What should we be aware of?
It is also communion Sunday at Alderbrook where we will remember the incredible gift of love that Jesus gave on the cross for our salvation.

November 7th~ Heaven and Hell, The Spiritual or Unseen World Today by Glenn Embree
Follow along during the sermon with the notes below!
Ephesians 6:11-12 “Put on the full armour of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
Text: 1 Samuel 28
1. Don’t _______________ when you feel that God ______________________.
1 Samuel 28:3-6 “Now Samuel was dead, and all Israel had mourned for him and buried him in his own town of Ramah. Saul had expelled all the mediums and spiritists from the land. The Philistines assembled and came and set up camp at Shunem, while Saul gathered all the Israelites and set up camp at Gilboa. When Saul saw the Philistine army, he was afraid; terror filled his heart. He inquired of the Lord, but the Lord did not answer him by dreams or Urim or prophets”.
God spoke to people by……
2. Don’t go to the ________________________________________________.
1 Samuel 28:7-8 “Saul then said to his attendants, ‘Find me a woman who is a medium, so that I may go and inquire of her.’ ‘There is one in Endor’, they said. So Saul disguised himself, putting on other clothes, and at night he and two men went to the woman. ‘Consult a spirit for me’, he said, ‘and bring up for me the one I name.’“

3. Don’t ____________________ your ________________________________.
1 Samuel 28:9-11 “But the woman said to him, ‘Surely you know what Saul has done. He has cut off the mediums and spiritists from the land. Why have you set a trap for my life to bring about my death?’ Saul swore to her by the Lord. ‘As surely as the Lord lives, you will not be punished for this.’ Then the woman asked, ‘Who shall I bring up for you?’ Bring up Samuel’, he said.”
4. I will __________________ what I ____________________.
1 Samuel 28:16-20 “Samuel said, ‘Why do you consult me, now that the Lord has turned away from you and become your enemy? The Lord has done what he predicted through me. The Lord has torn the kingdom out of your hands and given it to one of your neighbours – to David. Because you did not obey the Lord or carry out his fierce wrath against the Amalekites, the Lord has done this to you today. The Lord will hand over both Israel and you to the Philistines, and tomorrow you and your sons will be with me. The Lord will also hand over the army of Israel to the Philistines.’ Immediately Saul fell full length on the ground, filled with fear because of Samuel’s words.”
5. We must put on the ______________________________________.
Ephesians 6:13 “Therefore put on the full armour of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.”

We also encourage the kids to learn the series Bible verse (if they memorize it they get a prize!):
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 NIV
