Sunday, March 6 || Alderbrook Church

Hello everyone,

I know that the month of February has only 28 days, but how did we end up in the month of March so quickly? Plus, next week it’s time to move the clocks ahead one hour…yes, we lose an hour of sleep but gain some evening daylight.

Would you remember to pray for the country of Ukraine this week, that God will bring protection and peace!

This Sunday, Gregg will be leading the music, plus we will also be having communion together. If you are attending church through Zoom, make sure you prepare your communion elements to participate as we remember Christ’s death and sacrifice.

We are also continuing our new sermon series titled, WHO ARE YOU? A lot of people really struggle with who they are and who they were made to be. In fact, many are confused about who God created them to be and what he wants them to do. Over the next few weeks we will be looking at insights from God’s Word about our inner being-our soul…and find out who we really are!!

Sermon Series

March 6th ~ Who Are You,  Getting Past My Brokenness by Glenn Embree

James 1:22-25 (GN) “Do not deceive yourselves by just listening to his word; instead, put it into practice. If you listen to the word, but do not put it into practice you are like people who look into a mirror and see themselves as they are. They take a good look at themselves and then go away and at once forget what they look like. But if you look closely into the perfect law that sets people free, and keep on paying attention to it and do not simply listen and then forget it, but put it into practice-you will be blessed by God in what you do.”

I Need to Realize That When I’m Broken…..

1. I create _________________________ in an effort to _________________________.

Proverbs 27:19 (NLT) “As a face is reflected in water, so the heart reflects the real person.”

Matthew 15:1-3 (NLT) “Some Pharisees and teachers of religious law now arrived from Jerusalem to see Jesus. They asked him, ‘Why do your disciples disobey our age-old tradition? For they ignore our tradition of ceremonial hand-washing before they eat’. Jesus replied, ‘And why do you, by your traditions, violate the direct commands of God?.'”

2. What is in my _____________________will eventually ____________________.

Matthew 15:17-18 (NLT) “Anything you eat passes through the stomach and then goes into the sewer. But the words you speak come from the heart-that’s what defiles you.'”

Matthew 15:19-20 (NLT) “For from the heart comes evil thoughts, murder, adultery, all sexual immorality, theft, lying and slander. These are what defile you. Eating with unwashed hands will never defile you.”

Proverbs 4:23 (TNIV) “Above all else, guard your heart for everything you do flows from it.”

3. Watching my ________________ is important but _________________ is essential.

Luke 6:43-45 (NLT) “A good tree can’t produce bad fruit, and a bad tree can’t produce good fruit. A tree is identified by its fruit. Figs are never gathered from thorn bushes, and grapes are not picked from bramble bushes. A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. What you say flows from what is in your heart.”

Galatians 5:22-23 (NLT) “But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and selfcontrol. There is no law against such things!”

Ezekiel 36:26 (NLT) “And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender responsive heart.”
