Sunday, January 16 || Alderbrook Church

Hello everyone,

Did you catch the main point from church last week?? “I pray that my relationship with God gets even better in 2022.”

I’m sure that a lot of people are a little hesitant and worried as we start 2022. With the Omicron variant spreading it’s quite easy to be unnerved, hesitant and even scared of what may happen this new year.
However, have you ever considered what could happen if we focused our lives completely on God and His daily presence in our lives?
Could you stop and imagine what God could do in you and through you over this next year?? If God is our Saviour and our Lord…and we know that He has everything under control…what could potentially take place in your personal life or family life for His purpose and glory??

We are excited to have Vijay Manuel, Head of Schools for MEI leading our music/worship this Sunday. Vijay is an exceptional leader in our community and has a heart for leading people into the presence of God through music.

We also will continue our sermon series titled”Best Year Yet.”

Sermon Series

January 16th~ Best Year Yet, What is God Asking Me? by Glenn Embree

Deuteronomy 10:12-13 “And now, O Israel, what does the Lord your God ask of you but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to observe the Lord’s commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good?”

Text: 1 Samuel 3:1-4:1

What is God asking me in 2022?

1. To restore a ___________________________ in my life/family.

1 Samuel 3:1 “The boy Samuel ministered before the Lord under Eli. In those days the word of the Lord was rare; there were not many visions.”

1 Samuel 3:3 “The lamp of God had not yet gone out, and Samuel was lying down in the temple of the Lord, where the ark was.”

2. To be ________________________ in ______________________ God’s voice.

1 Samuel 3:4-5 “Then the Lord called Samuel. Samuel answered, ‘Here I am.’ And he ran to Eli and said, ‘Here I am, you called me.'”

1 Samuel 3:7 “Now Samuel did not yet know the Lord; The word of God had not yet been revealed to him.”

3. To be ______________________ to do what God ________________________.

1 Samuel 3:8-9 “The Lord called Samuel a third time, and Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, ‘Here I am, you called me.’ Then Eli realized that the Lord was calling the boy. So Eli told Samuel, ‘Go and lie down, and if he calls you, say ‘Speak, Lord for your servant is listening.’ So Samuel went and lay down in his place.“

4. To _____________________ that God is doing something _____________________.

1 Samuel 3:11 “And the Lord said to Samuel: ‘See, I am about to do something in Israel that will make the ears of everyone who hears it tingle.'”

5. To ____________________ that there are _________________________________.

1 Samuel 3:13-14 (God) “For I told him (Eli) that I would judge his family forever because of the sin he knew about; his sons  made themselves contemptible and he failed to restrain them. Therefore, I swore to the house of Eli, ‘The guilt of Eli’s house  will never be atoned for by sacrifice or offering.'”

6. To not be _____________________ of what God is _________________________.

1 Samuel 3:15-16 “Samuel lay down until morning and then opened the doors of the house of the Lord. He was afraid to tell Eli the vision, but Eli called him and said, ‘Samuel, my son.'”

7. To _______________________ and ___________________ God’s words.

1 Samuel 3:18 “So Samuel told him everything, hiding nothing from him. Then Eli said, ‘He is the Lord; let him do what is good in his eyes.'”

8. To stay _____________________ into God’s _____________________ for me.

1 Samuel 3:19 “The Lord was with Samuel as he grew up, and he let none of his words fall to the ground.”

1 Samuel 3:21, 4:1 “The Lord continued to appear at Shiloh, and there he revealed himself to Samuel through his word. And Samuel’s word came to all Israel.”
