We have been focusing on one specific premise at Alderbrook Church as we start a brand new year:
“I pray that my relationship with God gets even better in 2022.”
I’m sure that a lot of people are a little hesitant and worried as we start 2022. With the Omicron variant spreading it’s quite easy to be unnerved, hesitant and even scared of what may happen this new year.
However, have you ever considered what could happen if we focused our lives completely on God and his daily presence in our lives? Could you stop and imagine what God can do in you and through you over this next year? If God is our Saviour and our Lord…and we know that He has everything under control…what could take place in your personal life or family life for His purpose and glory?
We are continuing our ‘Best Year Yet’ Series…
Jan 23rd ~ How to Fix a Broken Dream
Jan 30th ~ What is Your Defining Moment?
Feb 6th ~ Spiritual Transformation
Feb 13th ~ Moving Forward to My Destiny
If you cannot attend church this Sunday, why not join online through our Zoom stream:
Remember…2022 could be your ‘best year yet.’

January 23rd ~ Best Year Yet, How to Fix a Broken Dream by Glenn Embree
“I pray that my relationship with God gets even better in 2022”
John 10:10 (Jesus) “…I have come that they may have life and have it to the full.”
Proverbs 3:5-7 (Msg) “Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure everything out on your own. Listen to God’s voice in everything that you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track. Don’t assume that you know it all.”
To Fix a Broken Dream, God usually…..(1 Kings 17)
1. Picks a ___________________ when I’ve lost all ________________________.
1 Kings 17:7 “Some timer later the brook dried up…”
2. Asks for ____________________ when I’m really ________________________.
1 Kings 17:7-9 “Some time later the brook dried up…because there had been no rain in the land….Then the word of the Lord came to him: [Elijah] ‘Go at once.'”
3. Leads me to a ___________________ I’d never _________________________.
1 Kings 17:8-9 “Then the word of the Lord came to him: [Elijah] ‘Go at once to Zarephath of Sidon and stay there.'”
4. Involves _____________________ to provide an _________________________.
1 Kings 17:9 “…I have commanded a widow in that place to supply you with food…”
Luke 4:24-26 [Jesus] “‘I tell you the truth…I assure you that there were many widows in Israel in Elijah’s time, when the sky was shut for three and a half years and there was a severe famine throughout the land. Yet Elijah was not sent to any of them, but to a widow in Zarephath in the region of Sidon.'”
5. Wants me to _______________ when I’ve got ________________________.
1 Kings 17:10-12 “So he went to Zarephath. When he came to the town gate widow was there gathering some sticks. He called to her and asked, ‘Would you bring me a little water in a jar so I may have a drink?’ As she was going to get it, he called, ‘And bring me, please, a piece of bread.’ ‘As surely as the Lord your God lives’, she replied, ‘I don’t have any bread-only a handful of flour in a jar and a little oil in a jug. I am gathering a few sticks to take home and make a meal for myself and my son, that we may eat it- and die.'”
6. Dares me to put him _________________ in all of my ___________________.
1 Kings 17: 13-14 “Elijah said to her, ‘Don’t be afraid. Go home and do as you have said. But first make a small cake of bread for me from what you have and bring it to me, and then make something for yourself and your son. For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel says: ‘The jar of flour will not be used up and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the Lord gives rain on the land.'”
7. Seeks my ___________________ before _____________________________.
1 Kings 17:15 “She went away and did as Elijah had told her. So there was food every day for Elijah and for the woman and her family.”
8. Urges me to _________________a _________________ in the Bible.
1 Kings 17:16 “For the jar of flour was not used up and the jug of oil did not run dry, in keeping with the word of the Lord spoken by Elijah.”
Ephesians 3:20 (Msg) “God can do anything, you know- far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us.”
