Sunday, October 17 || Alderbrook Church

Hello everyone,

Did you have a good Thanksgiving? We have so much to be thankful for, don’t we? Let’s try living 365 with hearts that are thankful to God for everything that He has blessed us with.

We are continuing our sermon series called “Heaven and Hell”. This Sunday we will again be looking at what heaven is like…there’s so much incredible information for us to learn. What does the Bible say about Heaven? What does the Bible say about Hell? What happens in eternity?

This Sunday we are also excited to have the CBC Music Travel Team leading us in worship. We are so blessed that we have been given space as a church to meet at CBC…..and to have incredible support from the college.

Recap Part 1

John 14:1-3 “Do not let your hearts be troubled; trust in God, trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go to prepare a place for you, will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.”

Recap Part 2

2 Corinthians 5:6-7 (Msg) “That’s why we live with such good cheer. You won’t see us drooping our heads or dragging our feet! Cramped conditions here don’t get us down. They only remind us of the spacious living conditions ahead. It’s what we trust in but don’t yet see that keeps us going.”

1. Who is in ______________________________ right now?

Acts 1:9, 11 “After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight…(angels vs 11)’ why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back”

2 Corinthians 5:8 “We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord”.

2. Will we ________________________________ in heaven?

John 21:12,14 “[Mary at the tomb] …saw two angels in white, seated where Jesus’ body had been, one at the head and one at the foot….she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not realize it was Jesus”.

John 21:26, 27 “…Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them…Then he said to Thomas, ‘Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe’ .”

1 Corinthians 13:12 “Now we see through a poor reflection as in a mirror, then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then shall I fully know, even as I am fully known.”

Matthew 17 (Mount of Transfiguration: Peter, James and John: Moses and Elijah)

3. What will we ______________________________ heaven?

Matthew 25:21 “[Parable] ‘..Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things.’ .”

Revelation 4:8 [Four Living Creatures]… day and night they never stopped saying: ‘Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come’ .”

4. What will we __________________________________ in heaven?

1st crown _____________________________ 1 Corinthians 9:25-27

2nd crown_____________________________ 1 Thessalonians 2:19

3rd crown _____________________________ 2 Timothy 4:8

4th crown _____________________________ James 1:12 / Revelation 2:10

** All believers will attend the Judgement Seat (or Bema Seat)

1 Corinthians 3:13-14 “Each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test each one’s work, or what sort it is. If anyone’s work which he has built on I endures, he will receive a reward.”

5. How can I be _____________________ that I am going to heaven?

John 14: 5,6 “Thomas said to him, ‘Lord, we don’t know where you are going so how can we know the way?’ Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me’ .”
